Google Maps is now updated to version 4.16.0, a new release that allows Mountain View maps to gain some practical features.

In addition to the usual bug fixes, the app finally gains the ability to add detours to a route, which will be particularly useful for stopping at a gas station or making a quick purchase before heading to an appointment.

Moreover, owners of the latest generation of iPhone can now enjoy “Quick Actions” shortcuts by pressing the Google Maps icon. A drop-down menu then allows you to quickly launch a route to your home or workplace.

For comparison, Apple’s Maps app offers four 3D Touch shortcuts for searching for a nearby location, sending or marking your position, and launching a route home.
